4 Special Keyword Research Techniques

The second week we were a little crazy - it's cool , we came back - more than a rumor that Google start blocking paid keyword data for advertisers , as it did with "(not supplied ) " in Bio - data .
Honestly, I 've never been a fan of keyword data . It makes us weak. It encourages us to meaningless metrics instead of tracking key performance indicators (KPIs ) that really matter to leave .
But no matter what side of the fence you stand, we have a situation have in our hands. Keywords anything yet ; Google is only making it harder for us to find them .

Difficult , but not impossible. Here are four tools that you can use for keyword research in the age of escape keyword data .

Small AdWords campaigns

Keyword data is paid in campaigns not go away. This data will no longer get passed on your analytics provider , but you can still access your paid keyword performance in the AdWords interface , so to test this a good way search words before implementing them in your strategy first . If your paid search efforts are also synchronized with your marketing automation software, you can the quality of leadership that these keywords also brought see .
Start in small pieces with a set of keywords at the time. If your budget is very tight, to localize it to your city , state, or region.

Google Webmaster Tools

Even if you do not see what was happening with this term after it came to your website ( Does it have legs? Does it convert ? ) , Is one of the few reliable sources consistently Google webmaster tools keyword data , click-through rate and average rankings. Armed with this data , you know , at least , is what works for you and it offers a good starting point .

High rankings and impressions but low CTR ? Make sure that your results match the query , people are looking . Just like in AdWords Quality Score here the relevance is critical. Your goal is not to have the highest rank ; it is to have the most attractive offer in the search results .

UberSuggest

UberSuggest is one of my favorite tools because of the abundance of the things that you can do with the data once you have it . In the simplest form , it is a good way to trends in what Google recommends , people are looking to see based on your search root.
Start with your basic keyword: Let us select all the keywords " dog treats . " .

Click " Get " .

And copy and paste into any proposal to XLS .

Do this for slight variations of the keywords like " dog treat. " Then group the duplicates. The more often it seems , the more often Google recommends it and that is a key signal for you that the keyword should be in your keyword strategy . Note that this better for long tail keywords .

User interviews or surveys

User interviews are more time than pulling data from a tool , but you are going to get more valuable data , because you will find are how your target audience searches for products or services like yours. Tools are great, but not that they can get context .

First , its users find to interview

If there is a more general audience , you could easily pull this off by hanging at your local coffee shop and buying a small coffee for someone for 10 minutes of their time . If there are more specific , to make the head to LinkedIn Answers and Quora are looking for people questions about the industry.
You can set for their feedback also on LinkedIn groups in your industry or a small LinkedIn sponsored post or LinkedIn ad campaign soliciting people .

Then talk with them

With 10 or 15 minutes for each interview , you're going to cover too much ground to understand exactly how your target group is shopping for your product or service. Since there . For the keywords that you ask them what they want when they are looking looking around shopping Give them time to answer ; they will probably tell you more than one.
You can also rationalize this by taking a survey , but you will be the value of one - to-one conversations that you miss detailed information .

What did I miss? What are some other tools that you use for keyword research ?
